..."I moved to Seattle in 2005, a little big city where artist live and music was alive. I continued to grow into the culture and become influenced by the Hip Hop and the Housing scene in Seattle back in 2007. Watching the friends and Fam of Circle of Fire."..."I started breaking in 2012...Found my heart and soul in San Francisco" ...

 

 

How the name came about ...

"Miss Steezy One"

" We were throwing names back and forth, playing with different words and ways to put "flavor and style" together, throwing a little Frisco STEEZ to it. When I was younger I came up with all sorts of names that I would play around with as a kid. My initials are BGG, but I wrote B"J" when I use to spell my middle name as "Jean" back in 1st grade. The name stuck through high school and I finally decided to change it back to Gene after graduation. Jean was my alias growing up and "Tagz" was another name I use to write and play around with when I was younger. It took me back to remembering all these different names we use to come up with as kids! " ... 

 

"A simple conversation and thought popped into my head while sitting on the bus headed back home from practice. It had only been about 3 months since I moved to the Bay. Feeling it was time for me to make a move forward with my art. I wanted to come up with a name for myself. So I was in conversation saying, "Friends have always told me I've got flavor, I've got style. So I want to mix the two together to come up with a name, something good, something representing who I am. What do you think? " ...

While we were throwing out different names to each other, I remember saying something like " Styley One, Stylez One" and my friend dissing on those names. Hahah. But I liked the word " STYLE" and knew it would be good letters to draw out and sketch later on in my career. Then I said to them, " I want to use "Miss" because a lot of my friends and girlfriends would call me Lady, Miss or Miss Gene." ... 

So they mentioned " What about "Steez?" and there should be a ONE at the end of it. No one uses Miss in their names either." So I was like "Ooo Steezy One." I wanted to be able to have a balance of both masculine and feminim to the name. So by adding Miss Steezy shaken up with a twist, it became ...
